Bellevue Shooting Suspect Upset At Wife's Affair; Bail Set at $2M

A Redmond man was held in lieu of $2 million in connection with the fatal shooting of a man who was having an affair with his wife, prosecutors say.

Prosecutors say that a husband fatally shot a man who was having an affair with his wife during a confrontation in a downtown Bellevue apartment Tuesday morning.

Bail was set at $2 million this afternoon afternoon for the man who was arrested in connection with Tuesday's shooting death at the Belle Arts apartments at 111 108th Ave. NE in downtown Bellevue, according to the King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office.

The 43-year-old Redmond man has not yet been formally charged, but he is being held in King County Jail on suspicion of second-degree murder, according to court documents.

The victim was identified in court documents as Jin Kim, an employee of the wife. The wife told investigators that she and Kim were in an affair that was "emotional, not physical," according to court documents.

The deadline for a charging decision is Friday, according to the King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office.

The wife told investigators that she and Kim were at the unit at the Belle Arts, where her business is run, when her husband came to the apartment to talk to them.

The husband told Kim that the wife was going to fire him, according to court documents, and when Kim argued, the husband pulled out a gun and shot him in the face with a 9mm Glock.

The husband told investigators that he came to the apartment Tuesday morning because was so upset by his wife's affair that he couldn't go to work at his job at Microsoft. According to court documents, Kim told the husband that he would leave their family alone for $500,000, and the husband became so upset he pulled out his 9mm Glock and shot him.

However, the husband told investigators that he only meant to threaten the man and did not come to the apartment to shoot anyone.

The wife said after the shooting, her husband yelled, "My life is over," and lamented that he would never see their 8-year-old son again.

The man threw the gun out the window after the shooting and told his wife to call police, according to court documents.

Medical personnel pronounced Kim dead at the scene, according to police.
