Medical Examiner Identifies Bellevue Father Found Dead by Craigslist Responders

The King County Medical Examiner identified the father who was found dead over the weekend by two men responding to a Craigslist ad as Matthew Steckler, 36.

A Bellevue father found dead over the weekend by two people responding to his Craigslist ad was identified by the King County Medical Examiner as Matthew Steckler, 36. The cause of his death is still under investigation, according to the medical examiner.

Q13 reported on Saturday that two men went to Steckler's home in the 15800 block of Southeast Fifth Place in response to an ad for a room for rent, and found Steckler's four-year-old son, saying he couldn't wake his dad.

Bellevue police told the TV station that the two men found the unresponsive man and called 9-1-1, but that it appeared that the man had been unresponsive for several days. The son had been living on snack foods and trying to wake his father, police said. Bellevue police were investigating Steckler's death because of its unusual nature, though they told reporters it did not appear to be foul play or suicide.
