Bellevue Man Arrested For DUI After Driving Car Down Embankment, Onto I-5

The man was taken to Harborview Medical Center for treatment after April 26 crash

A Bellevue man was arrested and under investigation by the Washington State Patrol for DUI after driving his car down an embankment and “vaulting” onto southbound I-5 early Tuesday morning.

Trooper Julie Startup says the 23-year-old Bellevue man, who's name was not released in the initial report, was heading east on Northeast 80th Street just before 2 a.m. Tuesday, April 26, when he lost control of the vehicle and went down the embankment, becoming airborne and landing in the right-hand lane of the freeway in North Seattle.

The man was placed under arrest at Harborview Medical Center, where he was taken for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries after the crash. No other vehicles were involved , Startup said, and it's not clear if he's been released from the hospital yet.
