Bellevue Man Faces Charges in Fatal Everett Rollover Crash

A Bellevue man faces charges in a fatal rollover crash that took place last week at Steamboat Slough in Everett, according to the Everett Police Department.

The crash scene was a long one, as the 1990s model Ford Explorer kept going for nearly half a mile after it rolled over and landed on its wheels, according to the Everett Police Department. The driver faces charges of one count of hit-and-run and one count of vehicular homicide, according to the Snohomish County Prosecuting Attorney's Office. 

According to Everett Police, the 54-year-old Bellevue man was behind the wheel around 6:30 p.m. on June 21 when the 1990s model Ford Explorer crashed on northbound State Route 529 near Steamboat Slough.

Witnesses told police that the vehicle was driving erratically when it struck the inside barrier, according to the Everett Police Department. The vehicle rolled over, ejected its passenger, and ended up on its wheels and continued driving for just under a half mile before crashing into the forested median. 

The passenger, identified as Kyle A. Finch, 26, of Mukilteo, died at the scene, according to the Everett Police Department.

The driver was transported to Providence Medical Center – Colby Campus for a medical assessment and then was booked into the Snohomish County Jail in connection with vehicular homicide and hit-and-run charges.

According to Everett Police, detectives believe drugs were a factor in the accident.

The man remains in jail in lieu of $75,000 bail, according to the Snohomish County Prosecuting Attorney's Office. Everett detectives continue their investigation.

Patch has not named the Bellevue man, pending charges being filed in Snohomish County Superior Court.
