The pedestrian, a 60-year-old Bellevue resident, was on her way to work when she crossed Northeast 20th Street in the middle of the 15200 block around 7:20 a.m. and an eastbound Ford SUV struck her, according to Bellevue Police spokeswoman Officer Carla Iafrate.

The car didn't appear to slow down before striking the woman, who was not crossing the street in a crosswalk, Iafrate said.

The 28-year-old driver of the car, also from Bellevue, was under the influence when Bellevue police officers talked to him, according to officers, and the driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and vehicular assault, Iafrate said.

The road was bocked for several hours for the investigation, Iafrate said. The woman suffered significant injuries from the collision, but her condition as of Wednesday afternoon was unavailable, she said.
