Bellevue Police Catch Armed Robbery Suspect on Getaway Bus

A man suspected of armed robbery of a Radio Shack was arrested Tuesday after a Bellevue motorcycle officer saw him on a bus, the Bellevue Police Department reported.

A man suspected of armed robbery of a Radio Shack was arrested Tuesday after a Bellevue motorcycle officer saw him on a bus, the Bellevue Police Department reported.

Witnesses told police that just before 6 p.m. at the Crossroads Radio Shack, in the 1300 block of 156th Avenue NE, a man displayed a black handgun and then fled out the back of the store with $284 in cash and approximately 15 smartphones, according to the Bellevue Police Department press release.

After a description of the suspect was dispatched to patrol units in the area, a motorcycle officer spotted a man fitting the description on a Metro bus at 148th and NE 8th. The bus was stopped and the subject matching the robbery description was detained and searched, the police said.

The officer found the handgun and smartphones and money were recovered in the backpack, according to the Bellevue Police Department. He was arrested and later booked into King County Jail for Robbery First Degree.

The detective assigned to the case obtained a confession from the suspect, according to the Bellevue Police Department. No one was injured during this incident
