Bellevue officers were serving warrants to the suspects who live in Seattle, near 43rd Avenue S and S Hudson Street, just before 5 a.m., according to Seattle Police Department spokesman Sgt. Sean Whitcomb.

They noticed the tan Mercedes that was a suspect vehicle in the robberies, according to Whitcomb, and the officers noticed that one of their suspects was inside the vehicle.

"The suspect noticed the SWAT officers, too. He put the car in reverse and backed up with such velocity and disregard that he struck a parked Ford F-250 pickup truck and pushed it several yards into the street. The Bellevue officers gave multiple commands for the suspect to stop. The suspect then switched the car into drive and stepped on the gas," wrote Whitcomb on the Seattle Police Blotter blog, the official blog of the Seattle Police Department.

Three Bellevue police officers, concerned about getting run over, shot the man, Whitcomb wrote. One officer discharged a handgun and two discharged rifles, according to Seattle PD. The suspect struck a second vehicle before coming to a stop, Seattle PD reported.

Robbery detectives questioned and released a second man, unrelated to the search warrant, according to Seattle PD. No one was found in the residence.

Seattle Police Robbery detectives will complete the search warrant service, Whitcomb wrote.

Information on the three officers involved was not immediately available, said Bellevue Police Department spokeswoman Officer Carla Iafrate.

Iafrate said that the standard procedure in cases of officer-involved shootings is that the officer would be put on paid administrative leave during the investigation.
