Bellevue Police: Man Shoots Himself In Factoria Mall Parking Lot

A man shot himself in the parking lot outside of Big 5 Sporting Goods around 12:30 p.m. Saturday, according to the Bellevue Police Department

A man shot himself in the head in a car parked outside of around 12:30 p.m. Saturday, according to the Bellevue Police Department.

The man, whose name was not released, did not threaten anyone else in the incident, according to Bellevue Police Cpl. David Deffenbaugh, who was at the scene.

Police responded to the Big 5 at the Marketplace at Factoria (also known as Factoria Mall) after someone at the store called police to report a suicidal subject. The man's car was in a nearly empty parking lot to the side of Big 5 Sporting Goods, Deffenbaugh said.

When officers arrived, the man had already shot himself in the head with a rifle, according to Bellevue police spokeswoman Officer Carla Iafrate.

The man, believed to be in his 50s, was taken by medics to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, and his condition was not immediately available, Deffenbaugh said.
