UPDATE: Driver Killed in Southbound Interstate 405 Accident Near Factoria

The 56-year-old victim was identified as Arville James Chappell of Port Orchard.

A 56-year-old Port Orchard man was killed early Wednesday morning when the tanker truck he was driving rolled over on a southbound on-ramp to Interstate 405 near Factoria, the Washington State Patrol reports.

The accident closed the on-ramp from Interstate 90 to I-405 for some three hours after the accident at about 3 a.m. The driver, Arville James Chappell, apears to have lost control on the curving on-ramp.

Trooper Cliff Pratt said the State Patrol is seeking witnesses who might help explain exactly what happened.

Crews from the Bellevue Fire Department responded with multple engines, a ladder truck and two aid cars, and Pratt said they had to cut the victim out of the wreckage of the overturned truck.

The Bellevue Fire Department reports that a driver was killed when a CO2 truck overturned on southbound Interstate 405 near Factoria just around 3 a.m. Wednesday morning.

The Bellevue Fire Department and the Washington State Patrol continued to be on scene as late as 5 a.m., according to the Fire Department Twitter feed.

According to the State Department of Transportation, the collision investigation had been blocking the right lane of southbound I-405, and the and the right lane of southbound I-405 is closed approaching the joint onramp from eastbound and westbound Interstate 90.

Just before 7 a.m., the accident was cleared, according to the DOT Twitter feed.

According to Q13 Fox, the driver was described as a 56-year-old Port Orchard man and he was killed instantly when his tanker truck struck a median and went off the road and rolled over.
