Man Pleads Guilty to Armed KeyBank Robberies in Bellevue

A former busboy has admitted to robbing a string of banks in Bellevue and Redmond last fall, according to the Seattle Times.

A 23-year-old Kent man pleaded guilty Wednesday to four armed KeyBank robberies, including three armed robberies in Bellevue, The Seattle Times reports.

Prosecutors are recommending that Jason Achurra, who worked as a busboy in Seattle, be sentenced to nearly 16 years in prison for the crimes, according to the newspaper. He will be sentenced March 9.

One of the bank robberies in Bellevue occurred Oct. 11 at the , when a man showed employees a gun, told people to put their hands up and jumped behind the counter and took cash, according to police reports at the time.

The second robbery Achurra plead guilty to was at the , when employees reported that two armed men wearing face masks had just robbed the bank at gunpoint.

According to the Times, Achurra escaped with large sums in the four robberies and used some of the money to purchase a car, 1,200 rounds of ammunition and a Tiffany engagement ring.
