KING 5: Officer Involved in Friday Shooting Fatally Shot Suspect in 2009

The TV news station is reporting one of the SWAT officers involved in this week's fatal shooting is the subject of a lawsuit over another fatal shooting that took place four years ago.

One of the SWAT officers involved in Friday's fatal Seattle shooting is reportedly the same Bellevue police officer who shot and killed a suspect in 2009, according to KING 5 News.

Bellevue Police have not identified the officers involved in this week's shooting, but the TV news station reported Saturday it had learned that one of them is the subject of a lawsuit stemming from a 2009 shooting that began as a domestic violence disturbance. KING 5's story did not cite any sources for the new information.

In the earlier incident, the officer was attacked with a knife by the suspect, who was threatening his wife and trying to force his way into her apartment, the Seattle P-I reported at the time.

The man fatally shot by officers on Friday was wanted in a string of Bellevue robberies and had attempted to run officers over with a tan Mercedes Benz, according to the Seattle Police Department, which is conducting the investigation into the fatal shooting.

Prior to Friday's incident, the most recent shooting involving Bellevue Police took place in 2011 when a knife-wielding man threatened people and confronted officers on Bellevue Way Southeast.
