Police Participate in Seattle's Susan G. Komen 3-Day™

The walk is a national event held in various cities to raise awareness and find a cure for breast cancer.

Approximately 35 members of the Seattle Police Department and Seattle Parking Enforcement took part in the Susan G. Komen 3-day walk Sept. 14-16, according to a post Tuesday on the Seattle Police Facebook page.

The Susan G. Komen 3-Day™ took about 1,300 participants 60 miles through the cities of Seattle, Bellevue, Mercer Island, Redmond and Kirkland.

The walk is held in 14 cities throughout the country to raise awareness and find a cure for breast cancer.

The officers all volunteered for this detail and rode mountain bikes for the entire route with the walkers, the post said. Officers provided public safety, traffic control and minor medical assistance.

The walkers this year reportedly raised $3.4 million for breast cancer research.
