Police Search for Two Men After Officer Interrupts Medina Burglary

A Medina homeowner called police after hearing her front door of her home open late Thursday night, police reported, and two men fled after officers responded. Agencies responded with help via air and water.

Police from several agencies searched via K-9, air and water for two men late Thursday after a Medina police officer spotted two men fleeing from a Medina home where the homeowner had reported a burglary.

A Medina homeowner in the 8100 block of Overlake Drive West called police after someone opened the front door of her home around 11 p.m. Thursday, the Medina Department reported. She was on the second floor of the home when she called, police said.

A Medina police officer responding to the call saw two men in the foliage, police say. The two men fled as the officer approached, Medina Police reported.

With the aid of the Bellevue and Clyde Hill Police Departments a perimeter was established and K-9 units were summoned, according to the Medina Police Department. King County Sheriff’s Office provided air support and Mercer Island Police provided its Marine Patrol during the search, Medina police said.

Police searched for an extensive length of time, but did not find the two men who were spotted, Medina police said.

According to the Medina police department, the house was entered through an unlocked door and a purse was snatched from inside the house. Officers located some of the items discarded outside the residence and the only item still missing is a cellular phone, police said.
