Reports: Witness in Hawaii Murder Case Says Bellevue Woman Was Struck with Hotel Furniture

News site Hawaii 24/7 reports that a housekeeping worker heard a commotion and witnessed part of the alleged attack from the room's balcony.

A witness in the case against a Bellevue man charged with murder in connection with the death of his girlfriend told a Hawaii court Tuesday that the woman was attacked with a piece of granite that was part of the room's coffee table, according to news reports from Hawaii.

Howard Philip Zimmerman, 46, of Bellevue, will stand trial in connection with the murder of Susan Brockert, 44, of Bellevue, according to news website Hawaii 24/7.

at The Fairmont Orchid resort on the Kohala Coast on Hawaii's big island.

The two had been registered together at the resort, police said. News reports stated that Brockert and Zimmerman had been in a relationship, but Brockert had taken a restraining order against Zimmerman in the past.

The resort worker told the court that he heard someone cry for help and banging noises and climbed onto the balcony from an adjacent room, according to the Tuesday's news reports.

The worker said that Brockert, who was lying on the floor, looked at him and appeared to be trying to say something when she was struck twice more, according to Hawaii 24/7.

Zimmerman is being held without bail, after a judge rescinded a $2 million bail.
