Three Displaced After Home Outside Eastgate Consumed by Flames

The cause of the blaze, which occurred just before 1 p.m. Thursday, is still under investigation.

Three people were displaced after a two-story home outside the Eastgate area was consumed by a blaze Thursday afternoon.

Firefighters from Eastside Fire and Rescue and Bellevue responded to the fire in a large two story residential building at 12:50 p.m. in the 16300 block of SE 40th Street Thursday, according to a press release by the Bellevue Fire Department. Bellevue Fire Lt. Troy Donlin said that two of the residents were at home when one of them noticed a large amount of black smoke coming from back wall of the home. He said the first firefighters to arrive found the basement and carport was fully involved in flames, he said, and a partial collapse of the building prevented fire fighters from entering.

The King County Fire Investigator lists the origin and cause of the fire as under investigation, Donlin said.
