UPDATE: Driver in Bellevue Way Crash Dies Two Weeks After Collision

A 60-year-old Mercer Island man died at Harborview Medical Center from injuries sustained in May 23 crash on Bellevue Way SE.

A 60-year-old Mercer Island man died over the weekend, the reported.

The man was identified as Steven Scott Bremner according to the King County Medical Examiner's Office. Bremner, who lived in Mercer Island, died Saturday, June 4, according to the Bellevue Police Department.

There were no indications of alcohol or drugs involved in the collision and no charges are pending, said Bellevue Police Officer Carla Iafrate in the press release.

The crash occurred about 2:50 p.m. on May 23, when Bremner's BMW 528i pulled out of the road -- which is SE 30th Street on the east side of Bellevue Way SE -- onto Bellevue Way SE and was struck on the driver's side by a 2004 Mitsubishi flatbed truck, according to the Bellevue Police Department.

According to the , Bremner was freed from his car after emergency crews cut the car open with the "jaws of life." The man suffered life-threatening injuries was taken to Harborview Medical Center, police officials said.

The driver of the flatbed truck was not injured, according to the report. Traffic in both directions on Bellevue Way SE, including the Interstate-90 freeway offramp that ends on Bellevue Way, was closed for several hours while the traffic investigators reviewed the scene.

This is the second fatal collision in the City of Bellevue this year. Marina Kristalinskaia, 77, of Bellevue, as she crossed NE 8th Street from south to north in the middle of the 16100 block around 8:20 p.m. March 25. Fikret Manashirov, 49, of Bellevue, was charged of a fatal hit and run in connection with that crash.
