Washington State Patrol Car T-Boned at Bellevue Intersection

The two-car crash was reported to be blocking Northeast Eighth Street near the intersection of 120th Avenue Northeast for at least an hour after the Washington State Patrol trooper was struck on the way to a call.

A car was T-boned in a collision on Northeast Eighth Street at 120th Avenue Northeast around 10 a.m. Saturday, according to the Washington State Patrol and Bellevue Police Department.

The two-car crash blocked Northeast Eighth for at least an hour, according to passerby who contacted Bellevue Patch.

The trooper, who is 26 and has been with the State Patrol just over a year, was headed to what was reported to be a rollover crash on Interstate 405 when he was involved in a collision himself, Washington State Patrol spokeswoman Trooper Julie Startup said.

According to the Bellevue Police Department, which is investigating the crash, two patrol cars were on 120th Avenue Northeast with their lights and sirens flashing. The first patrol car was turning onto Northeast Eighth Street to get to the freeway when another car T-boned it, according to initial reports, said Bellevue Police spokeswoman Officer Carla Iafrate.

The trooper and the other driver suffered minor injuries, Startup said.
