Wife of Lawyer Accused in Massage Therapist Rapes Files for Separation

The wife of Danford Grant, the lawyer accused of raping massage therapists, including a Bellevue massage therapist, filed for separation from her husband, according to the Seattle Times.

The wife of , including a Bellevue massage therapist in August, filed for separation, according to the Seattle Times.

Jennifer Grant, who is a supervising assistant city attorney for the city of Seattle, filed the petition in Snohomish County, according to the Times. They have two children together and he has a son from a previous relationship, according to the Times.

Jennifer Grant was reassigned by the Seattle City Attorney's office to work unrelated to courtroom prosecutorial work. According to court documents she moved her husband's Honda Pilot from near the massage therapy center where he was arrested and parked it a mile away from their home.

Several massage therapists identified Danford Grant in a series of rapes this year, including an attack of a Bellevue massage therapist and the rape of a Shoreline massage therapist at her home.

A cashier at a massage therapy location also reported that she was raped by Grant after his initial arrest.

Grant was arrested after a massage therapist in Seattle reported a sexual assault by a customer, and Seattle police arrested him after other employees at the massage therapy center tried to detain him.

That incident came less than a month after an Aug. 28 attack, in which a Bellevue massage therapist told police she was sexually assaulted at knifepoint, Bellevue police reported. 

Grant is a longtime attorney who has practiced in the Seattle area, including getting a master of laws degree from the University of Washington in 1996 an focusing on employment litigation in the Seattle City Attorney's Office from 1996 to 2000, according to his Linked In profile. Grant became one of the named shareholders of Bailey Grant Onsager earlier this year, according to the law firm's website.

Danford Grant is being monitored on electronic-home detention and with a $1 million bail.
