84th Avenue Northeast Median and Bike Lanes on Tonight's Medina Council Agenda

The city will consider approval of a new median and bike lanes down 84th Avenue Northeast, which would be a joint project of Clyde Hill and Medina. Clyde Hill is the lead agency. The city will also consider its draft 2012 Preliminary Annual Budget.

The Medina City Council will discuss the construction of new bicycle lanes and a 10 foot median down 84th Avenue Northeast at its council meeting scheduled for tonight at 6:30 p.m. at Medina City Hall.

That topic and a draft of the city's 2012 preliminary annual budget are on tonight's agenda. The agenda documents are listed in the box above.

The 84th Avenue Northeast project would be from Northeast 10th to Northeast 24th streets, and would include a landscaped median with "stately" trees, designated bike lanes and a new roadway.

According to the city documents, the tota cost of Phase I of the 84th Avenue Northeast project would be about $1 million and with grant funding of $462,000. Medina's cost for Phase I including design costs would be about $275,000, according to the documents.

According to the information from Clyde Hill's materials, the road shoulders would remain during this phase, and no bike lane signage is planned.

The next phases of the project will include new street lights, gutters and a sidewalk, and improvements between Northeast 24th Street and State Route 520.
