Bellevue Council Hires Firm For City Manager Search

The Bellevue council expects to spend between $22,000 to $29,000 on the search for the replacement for former city manager Steve Sarkozy, who left in May.

Bellevue City Council will use Florida firm Colin Baenziger and Associates to conduct its search for a new city manager.

The council approved the hire 5-0-2, Monday night with council members Claudia Balducci and Kevin Wallace absent. Councilman John Chelminiak attended the meeting for the vote via phone.

"They'll do a good job in trying to find the right fit in the city manager," Chelminiak said.

The council interviewed six firms that submitted proposals. Deputy Mayor Jennifer Robertson said that all the firms were excellent, but that the city council members who reviewed the firms were unanimous in picking Baenziger as the top choice.

The Bellevue council is searching for a new city manager after they parted ways with longtime city manager Steve Sarkozy. His resignation was effective in May. He had been with the city for 12 years.

The council expects to spend between $22,000 to $29,000 on the search for Sarkozy's replacement according to a city council meeting document from earlier this year.
