Bellevue Post Office Consolidation in the Works

The U.S. Postal Service will talk to the city council on Monday about consolidation of the Bellevue Main Post Office and the Bellevue Midlakes Station.

Russell Rainey, Real Estate Specialist from the U.S. Postal Service, is scheduled to make an announcement about the consolidation of the and the Post Offices at Monday's Bellevue City Council meeting.

The has been for sale for several years -- as a sign posted last year in the post office window explained --  however details were not immediately available as to which post office location would consolidate.

This would be the only recent Eastside post office consolidation. The postal service without immediate plans to replace it with a smaller retail location.

The Associated Press reports that the U.S. Postal Service will make $3 billion in reductions nationwide, in cuts that will be announced on Monday.

Rainey will be available to answer residents' questions after the meeting, according to the city council meeting agenda. Rainey is scheduled to speak at the regular council meeting at 8 p.m.

At the city council study session, the council will discuss the 's application to use the former location of the Lake Hills Library as a youth center. The moved to the Lake Hills Village shopping plaza last year. The Bellevue City Council is slated to make a decision on the conditional use permit at its Dec. 12 meeting. The study session is scheduled to start at 6 p.m.
