Kudos! Bellevue Television Wins National Recognition

Bellevue TV, the government access channel on cable channel 21, has won several national awards for its programs.

The city of Bellevue provided the following information on the awards: 

Videos produced by Bellevue Television have won several government programming awards from the National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (NATOA).

Award-winning segments from the time period covered, April 2011 to April 2012, include: South Bellevue Annexation, first place, public affairs category; DUI Drill and Vial of Life, second place tie, public safety; and Youth Sports Camps, third place, public service announcement. In addition, the news magazine show “It’s Your City” received an honorable mention in the magazine format series category.

Bellevue TV crews now produce segments to complement news releases about the city and for a news show launched this year – “Lake to Lake.”

NATOA’s government programming awards recognize excellence in broadcast, cable, multimedia and electronic programming produced by local government agencies. NATOA received more than 1,200 entries from 80 agencies nationwide.

The award-winning videos were produced for BTV’s It’s Your City show under the direction of David Grant, interim communications director; production staff included John Burwell, executive director; David Bruckner, producer/director; Robin Steel Haaseth, executive producer/host; David Richardson, editor; and Mei Dayton-Celt, photographer/editor.  

Bellevue Television is operated under a joint franchise agreement of the City of Bellevue and Bellevue Community College. The videos aired on BTV Channel 21 in Bellevue, Redmond and Kirkland and can be found online at www.bellevuewa.gov/bellevue_tv.htm
