Officials from the 41st District Democrats will hold an Aug. 14 candidates forum in Issaquah to help party officials nominate a slate of candidates to replace former State Rep. Marcie Maxwell (D-Renton).

After the forum, local precinct committee officers (PCOs) will gather at 7 p.m., Aug. 21 at Eastshore Unitarian Church in Bellevue to nominate three people to fill the vacancy.

The King County Council will subsequently choose one of the three as the appointee or, in the event of Council deadlock, the Governor will do so.

But before any of that happens, local officials and the public will have an opportunity to hear the candidates speak. The candidate forum will be held August 14, 7-9 p.m. at the King County Library Service Center, 960 Newport Way NW, Issaquah WA.

Maxwell resigned her elected office July 9, accepting a position as Gov. Inslee's Senior Education Policy Adviser for K-12, early learning and higher education.

Al Sanders, a King County Council spokesperson, said the council could appoint in early or mid-September, but the appointee must run in the Nov. 5 General Election to serve out the rest of Maxwell's term.
