Davidson Tightens Race for Bellevue Council Ballot Spot

Longtime Bellevue City Councilman Don Davidson still trails the race, but narrowed the margin with challenger Vandana Slatter. One of the two will face front-runner Lynne Robinson, Bellevue parks board chairwoman.

Bellevue City Councilman Don Davidson tightened the race with challenger Vandana Slatter in the Aug. 6 primary in Wednesday's updated vote returns.

They both trail front-runner, challenger Lynne Robinson, a parks board member who has about 47.9 percent of the primary vote.

The two candidates with the most votes will face off in the November general election.

On Tuesday night, early returns saw Davidson, a longtime councilman, behind Slatter, who had raised and spent a record amount of money in the race by about 142 votes. By Wednesday's tallies, that narrowed to 88 votes, separating the two by just over a half percent.

The leaders in the other two Bellevue primaries were unchanged. Bellevue Councilman Kevin Wallace and challenger Steve Kasner got the overwhelming majority of votes in the primary for position 4. My-Linh Thai and Ed Luera also remain ahead in the race for Bellevue School Board Director District No. 5.

About 23 percent of the votes were counted as of Wednesday.

The vote count will continue through election certification on Aug. 20, according to King County Elections.

The tallies as of 4:30 p.m. Wednesday were:
Bellevue Council Position 6:

Don Davidson: 25.7 percent

Bellevue Council Position 4:
