Medina Names Lt. Dan Yourkoski Acting Police Chief

Medina City Manager Donna Hanson says Lt. Dan Yourkoski is the city’s acting police chief following the dismissal Wednesday of embattled Police Chief Jeffrey Chen.

Hanson declined to comment on the reasons for the termination, but said the city plans to release additional information later Friday regarding the decision and how the city plans to recruit a new chief for the department.

Bellevue Patch by the city. Chen unexpectedly quit the department in mid-December, then informed city leaders he'd like his old job back a week later. Chen was reinstated but placed on paid administrative leave while Hanson considered a decision about his future with the city. Chen had been with the department since 2001, and had been chief since 2004.
