Republican 9th Congressional District Candidate Survives Plane Crash

Jim Postma, running for Congress in the 9th District against incumbent Adam Smith, landed his plane without its landing gear at the Spanaway Airport.

Jim Postma, a Republican running for Congress in the 9th Congressional District, survived a plane crash at the Spanaway Airport Monday night, according to reports.

Officials told the KING5 TV that Postma, who was piloting the plane with his wife onboard, landed without the plane's landing gear.

According to KOMO-TV, Postma said he aborted a first attempt at landing and forgot to lower the landing gear on the second attempt. The skidding caused a grass fire that was quickly extinguished according to reports.
