Eastgate and Tamara Hills are surrounded by Bellevue, but are served by King County. While Bellevue police respond to emergency calls, non-emergency law enforcement, such as thefts, is by the King County Sheriff's Office and the area's fire district pays the Bellevue Fire Department to cover fire and medical emergencies.

The annexation has met the requirement for gaining the support of property owners that make up more than 50 percent of the assessed valuation of the neighborhoods, according to city documents. According to a city memo, there will be a public hearing later this month on the annexation and the city council is expected to make a decision on the annexation later this month.
