Special Filing Period to Open for Beaux Arts Village Council

A special three-day filing period is open for two of the town council positions in Beaux Arts Village because no one filed in May, the King County Elections department announced.

The openings are for council positions 1 and 5. They are two of the 11 positions in King County that didn't have a candidate who filed. The full list of positions is posted below.

The special filing period begins Wednesday, Aug. 7 at 8:30 a.m. and will end at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 9, according to the King County Elections department. There will be no filing fee for these positions.

Candidates who wish to file must complete a declaration of candidacy in person at:

According to the Beaux Arts Village newsletter, town officials suggest that before potential candidates file, they should speak with Mayor Richard Leider or a current member of the council to to learn more about what's required of the town's elected officials.
