Vandana Slatter Announces Run for Bellevue City Council

Vandana Slatter, a clinical pharmacist who has served on the Washington State Board of Pharmacy, will run for Bellevue City Council this year, she announced this week.

Slatter, who lives in North Bellevue, works for Amgen and currently leads all the candidates in fundraising, with $30,923.74 raised so far, according to the state Public Disclosure Commission.

Slatter will run against either Don Davidson or Kevin Wallace, according to political blog Publicola.

Both Davidson and Wallace have filed campaign documents with the Public Disclosure Commission.

Slatter released the following information about her candidacy:

Dr. Vandana Slatter, a clinical pharmacist working in the biotechnology industry, is running for Bellevue City Council this year. Slatter believes that Bellevue’s rise as a regional hub for high-tech industries requires a fresh voice on Council that can represent all residents, including a growing population that is younger, well educated and increasingly diverse.

“Bellevue is rapidly changing, yet the reasons people come here to live, learn, work, and play remain the same. If elected to City Council, I will work hard to help Bellevue lead as a city where business, residents and beautiful neighborhoods all have the opportunity to thrive,” said Slatter.

A leader in local public life, Slatter was appointed to the Washington State Board of Pharmacy by Governor Christine Gregoire in 2007. She has also served on the Foundation Board of NARAL Pro-Choice Washington, and as a Trustee of the Children’s Institute for Learning Differences and Overlake Hospital Foundation.

Slatter graduated from the University of Washington with a Doctorate in Pharmacy and a Masters of Public Administration, and lives with her family in Northeast Bellevue. She is currently leading in fundraising amongst announced City Council candidates, and is planning a Campaign Kick-Off event in June.
