VP Nominee Paul Ryan in Medina, Bellevue for Private Fundraisers Today

Paul Ryan's stops this afternoon to include a $1,000 per person reception, and then a $25,000 per person reception in Medina.

Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan is scheduled to be in Bellevue and Medina for two private fundraisers today.

According to the Bellevue Reporter, Ryan, the Wisconsin congressman whom presidential nominee Mitt Romney chose as his running mate, will make stops this afternoon at a $1,000 per person reception, and then a $25,000 per person reception at the Medina home of Jolene and Bruce McCaw.

There are no public events scheduled, and gubernatorial candidate Rob McKenna of Bellevue is scheduled to be at a fundraiser in Moses Lake today, according to KING5-TV.

The TV station reports that this may be the last time that the Republican presidential ticket is in Washington state.

While Romney and President Barack Obama have visited the Eastside several times for fundraising visits, Obama has a double-digit lead in the polls for this state's electoral college votes, and the state is not considered to be competitive in the presidential election, according to the New York Times' Five Thirty Eight blog, which analyzes the Electoral College.

Bellevue and the surrounding cities have been popular stops for the national tickets, despite Washington not being competitive in the presidential race. Both Romney's and Obama's most recent campaign stops on the Eastside have not included public events in their last campaign fundraising stops. How do you feel about Eastside money being sent to the national campaigns? Tell us in the comments.
