Bellevue City Council: Davidson Trails in Early Returns; Wallace to Face Kasner

Bellevue Councilman Kevin Wallace will face challenger Steve Kasner on the November ballot, but Councilman Don Davidson trails his challengers in early returns. For Bellevue School Board, Ed Luera and My-Linh Thai appear to lead.

Bellevue City Councilman Kevin Wallace and challenger Steve Kasner appear to be headed for a face off in November for the Bellevue City Council position 4 seat in early primary election returns.

But the race for position 6 still remains up in the air, with challenger Lynne Robinson leading both incumbent Councilman Don Davidson and another challenger, Vandana Slatter, who are in a tight race for second.

My-Linh Thai and Ed Luera appear to be ahead in the race for Bellevue School Board Director District 5 in early returns.

The two candidates in each race with the most votes will face each other in the Nov. 5 general election. 

Bellevue City Council
For Bellevue council position 4, Wallace and Kasner easily got more votes than challengers Jeffrey Talada and Bill Hirt.

As of 8 p.m. Tuesday:
Kevin Wallace got 46.2 percent of the vote;
Steve Kasner got 42.2 percent of the vote;
Jeffrey Talada got 3.6 percent of the vote;
Bill Hirt got 7.8 percent of the vote.

In Bellevue council position 6, challenger Robinson is in an easy lead in early returns with Davidson, a longtime councilman, slightly trailing his second challenger Slatter in a close race, with 142 votes separating them.

As of 8 p.m. Tuesday:
Don Davidson got 25.4 percent of the vote;
Lynne Robinson got 48 percent of the vote;
Vandana Slatter got 26.3 percent of the vote.

In November Mayor Conrad Lee (whose post as mayor is selected from among the council members) will face challenger Lyndon Heywood for council position 2.

About 19 percent of registered voters' ballots in the Bellevue City Council races were tallied as of Tuesday night, according to the King County Elections results.

Bellevue School Board

My-Linh Thai and Ed Luera lead in the race for Bellevue School Board Director District 5, with Erik Fretheim appearing to trail in the vote count so far. 

As of 8 p.m. Tuesday:
Erik Fretheim got 23.7 percent of the vote;
Ed Luera got 36.1 percent of the vote;
My-Linh Thai got 39.9 percent of the vote. 

All three would be newcomers to the seat. Incumbent board member Paul Mills opted not to run for re-election for seat number 5.
 
The District 4 seat also will be on the ballot in November. It will be an unexpired 2-year term after board member Mike Murphy opted to leave the position mid-term. Two have filed for his seat, Krischanna Roberson and Tracy Trojovsky.

Incumbent Bellevue School District board member Chris Marks is unopposed for seat number 3. 

About 19 percent of registered voters' ballots in the Bellevue School Board race were tallied as of Tuesday night.

The vote count will continue through election certification on Aug. 20, according to King County Elections.
