Bellevue School District, Teachers Continue Mediation

Both sides have declined comment during mediation, on the recommendation of the mediator from the Public Employment Relations Commission.

The Bellevue School District and the Bellevue Education Association continue mediation with its teachers' contract, the Bellevue School District announced this week.

A Public Employment Relations Commission mediator has been assisting with the process since Aug. 10, the district stated. The District and the BEA are working to reach agreement before the start of school on Sept. 6.

The district and and the Bellevue Education Association have told Bellevue Patch that they will declined to comment during the mediations, on the recommendation of the mediator.

In mid-summer, issues around the contract included whether the district and school administrators or the teachers would control the training and planning done during Wednesday early release time, participation in the statewide pilot of the new teacher and principal evaluation process, teacher salaries and the gradebook. The contract expires Aug. 31.
