Bellevue School Superintendent Tim Mills to Start Today

Bellevue School Superintendent Tim Mills is slated to start July 2.

Bellevue School Superintendent Justin "Tim" Mills is slated to start today, according to the Bellevue School District.

He will take his oath of office at the Bellevue School Board meeting, which starts at 4:30 p.m., Tuesday July 3.

Mills, most recently superintendent of North Clackamas School District in Oregon, , after .

"I’m honored that the Bellevue board has selected me as superintendent and humbled by this great opportunity to join Washington’s premiere school district," Mills said, shortly after he was selected by the board. "I could not be more excited about working alongside the staff, Board and community in defining the next level of excellence for students as we build on the grand tradition of Bellevue and plan together for a dynamic and bright future for every student in our Bellevue community."

Mills has been an educator for 35 years, including as a teacher and principal in Colorado and Arizona, according to the Bellevue School District. Mills holds his bachelor and master degrees from the University of Colorado and his Ed.D from Nova Southeastern University, according to the district.

During his public forum as a finalist at Bellevue School District, Mills said that he was the first among his siblings to graduate from high school, and his grandmother who raised him instilled the value of education.

Mills said that he was a school music teacher before becoming a school administrator, so he feels that arts education fosters creativity which is important to innovation. 

The Bellevue School District has posted videos of the public forums with Mills.
