Bellevue Schools Cancel After School Activities Because of Winter Weather

Update 12 p.m.:

Due to afternoon and evening weather forecasts for snow and freezing temperatures, all after-school activities, events, athletics and building use will be cancelled for today (Tuesday, January 17).  Please check school websites for rescheduling of activities and events.  District officials continue to monitor current conditions throughout the District and the latest weather forecasts.  Parents and staff are advised to monitor local news media or the District website for any updates.

The Bellevue School District and others announced Monday night that school was expected to be delayed by two hours Tuesday because of the snow.

At least two private schools also announced that classes would be cancelled because of the snow.

The Bellevue School District issued the following statement:

Due to local and regional weather forecasts for overnight snow and freezing temperatures, schools in the Bellevue School District will be operating two hours late on Tuesday, January 17, 2012.  Officials will be monitoring conditions overnight for any changes or updates to this schedule.  Parents and staff are advised to monitor area news media or the district web site for any updates or changes to this schedule overnight. 

As of 7:00 pm, schools in the Bellevue School District for Tuesday, January 17 will be two hours late.

• All schools and full day programs start two hours late.
• Normal dismissal time.
• Regular bus service and the Southend Snow Schedule will be in effect. For a map of that Snow Schedule, visit the district web site at www.bsd405.org . 
• Partial day programs cancelled, including the following:  half-day Kindergarten, half-day Head Start, Special Ed Preschool, Morning/Midday Shuttles.
• Early Learning and After School Programs including infant, toddler, preschool and full day Head Start operate according to normal schedule.
• No elementary school breakfast.
