Parents of K-12 Students Can Learn About Bellevue School Programs at Education Showcase Wednesday

The fifth showcase offered by the district and other education organizations gives parents a chance to learn about the different programs for all grades offered in the Bellevue School District.

Looking for information about the Bellevue School District's gifted program? Need more information about the Career and Technical Education programs or help with college applications for high school students?

Parents can get the chance to learn more about these programs and more on Wednesday, March 23, at the Education Showcase at . Staff members for various programs will be available at a resource fair to help parents learn about different programs that the district offers for students.

"It's a really good Q&A opportunity," said Katrina Freeburg, annual giving manager of the Bellevue Schools Foundation, one of the organizations that is helping to put on the event.

The event starts at 5:30 p.m., with an hour-long Resource Fair, where parents can meet staff and program heads to learn more about various programs, followed by keynote speakers and workshops starting at 6:30 p.m.

The event was started by Pat Voelker, a trustee with the Bellevue Schools Foundation, and Natasha Nimmo, parent education lead for the Bellevue PTSA Council, Freeburg said, to give parents a chance to learn about the all the different programs that the Bellevue district offers.

Programs covered include the following: Career & Counseling Centers, Career & Technical Programs, College Corps, ESL/GED Programs, Early Learning, Family Connection Centers, Gifted Education, Impulso Escolar Latino, PAAC – Parent Action Advisory Council, Parent Internet Tools, Sammamish High School Graphics, Special Education, and VIBES – Volunteers in Bellevue Schools.

The event also includes breakout workshops on topics which include transitions to new schools, Differentiated Instruction, CTE, STEM, K-5 Literacy and more.

The fifth annual event is organized by the district, Bellevue PTSA Council, the Bellevue Schools Foundation, and Bellevue Quality Schools.

Resource Fair*

5:30 – 6:30 p.m.

Keynote Panel*

6:30 – 7:15 p.m.

Led by Superintendent Amalia Cudeiro, three outstanding educators from the Bellevue School District will share their insights and expertise on some of the new methods and older wisdom that come together to make powerful learning opportunities for students.

8:05 – 8:45 p.m.

Following our keynote speakers, there will be workshops for parents and community members.  Students, teachers, and specialists will lead discussions on topics which include transitions to new schools, Differentiated Instruction, standardized testing, school funding and more.
