BELLEVUE -- The Bellevue High School Wolverines varsity football team, the KingCo 3A title holders and the 2009 state champions, will move on in the state playoffs, after blowing out the Bainbridge High School Spartans Friday night 54 to 7.

After three quarters that saw the Spartans scoreless, Bainbridge made its one and only touchdown in the fourth quarter, when Bellevue was up 47 points.

The game became lopsided early, with a halftime score of 27-0.

Bellevue's starters were pulled in the second quarter, and the team put up an additional 30 points. But coach Butch Goncharoff held back from making predictions about future years.

"With high school, you just never know. You never know about the skill level of the players coming in," he siad. "You just hope for the best."

The Bellevue football team won state titles in 2008 and 2009, but senior Riley Fitting, offensive guard, said he isn't taking this year for granted.

"I want to go out the right way, with a championship," he said.

Next week, Bellevue will face the winner of today's game between Timberline High School (Lacey) and Mountain View High School (Vancouver). The game starts today at 7 p.m. in South Sound Stadium in Lacey.
