Bellevue East Lacrosse To Face Klahowya Wednesday in Semifinal

The teams faces Klahowya on May 18 for the right to play in the state title game.

BELLEVUE – Camille Sullivan scored 7 goals to lead Bellevue East to a berth in the girls Division II state lacrosse semifinals with a 20 – 7 quarterfinal playoff win over Bainbridge, Friday at Interlake High School in Bellevue.

The win propelled the #2 seed in the Northeast Conference, which finished a disappointing sixth last season and out of playoffs, to a May 18 matchup with Klahowya for the right to play in the state title game.

Sullivan also contributed 3 assists and caused 5 turnovers in the win. She was supported by Kayla Miller and Elizabeth Soffey with 3 goals each and Sophie Wolz and Charlotte McArn who each netted 2 goals. Samantha Gunnerson had 7 saves.

For Bainbridge, Sallie Marx and Riley McCormick-Dekker each had 2 goals and McKenzie Scott had 8 saves.

The SW Conference #4 seeded Spartans won four straight to finish the season including an 18 – 17 win over Curtis on May 2, a 14 – 9 defeat of Kennedy on May 4 and a 14 – 4 defeat of Evergreen on May 7. Bainbridge wrapped up the season with a 7-5-0 overall record.

Wednesday's Bellevue East v Klahowya game will determine who plays for the state championship, facing the winner of Overlake v Garfield. The championship game will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Eastside Catholic High School.
