Bainbridge's Goodman's hat trick leads unbeaten team past Bellevue for 10th win
BAINBRIDGE ISLAND – Jacob Goodman’s hat trick led undefeated Bainbridge to its 10th overall win of the season with a 7 – 6 boys high school lacrosse defeat of defending state champion Bellevue, Friday at Bainbridge High School. The win elevated the high-flying Spartans, 5-0-0 in league play, to a tie with Tacoma for second spot in the Southwest, just a game behind division-leading Curtis.
Playing on the road, Bellevue looked to establish dominance from the opening draw, scoring the first 2 goals of the game on a Nick Hudson solo-shot at 10:07 and a Cole Johnson goal at 8:53. It wasn’t until Jacob Goodman found the net at 3:36 remaining in the first, that the Spartans got their legs and narrowed the game to 2 – 1.
In the second, the Wolverines again opened scoring with Cole Johnson feeding Reid Hendrickson to make it 3 – 1 Bellevue. But Bainbridge came charging back scoring the next three goals to take a 4 – 3 lead into the intermission.
With momentum in the Spartan’s hands, the third was all Bainbridge with the Spartans scoring 3 more goals to make it 7 – 4. Bellevue netted 2 in the fourth, but in the end was unable to overcome Bainbridge.
