Bellevue's O’Dougherty Named State Lacrosse Assistant Coach of the Year

Chris O'Dougherty, assistant lacrosse coach at Bellevue Boys Lacrosse, got statewide honors from the Washington State Chapter of US Lacrosse.

Bellevue Boys Lacrosse assistant coach Chris O'Dougherty got statewide top honors from the Washington State Chapter of US Lacrosse, the organization announced this week.

O’Dougherty was honored by the Washington State Chapter of US Lacrosse along with Lake Tapps high school head boy’s lacrosse coach Louis Lucchesi, named 2012 “Coach of the Year,” and Lake Tapps volunteer Kathi Lucchesi as its “Person of the Year.”

The awards program recognizes individuals that have made significant contributions to the sport of lacrosse and their student-athletes and programs in Washington state, according to the organization.

O’Dougherty, who is a standout defenseman with the NLL Washington Stealth, coached the Bellevue defense, which contributed to the team handing defeat to rival Eastside Catholic 13 – 4. The win was the 11th boy’s state championship for the team, whic has a 20-2-0 overall record (17-2-0 in regular season play).
