Girls Lacrosse: Sammamish's Wolz Named Washington Player of the Week

Sophie Wolz, a junior at Sammamish High School rides a strong week to the award.

Sammamish High School junior Sophie Wolz has been named the girls lacrosse division II US Lacrosse Washington High School Player of the Week.

Wolz, a junior attack for club Bellevue East, which draws players from four eastside high schools, notched 25 points in two games last week to win the award. Wolz netted 5 goals and 8 assists in an 18-14 win over Forest Ridge and followed that up with a 7 goal, 5 assist effort in a 21-16 win over Ballard. Bellevue East is 6-0-0 on the season.

Wolz was a first team All-State selection as a sophomore. The junior also plays basketball and soccer at Sammamish, is working toward her black belt in karate and is an avid community volunteer.
