Marymoor Velodrome Hosts New Racing Season

The Marymoor Grand Prix is scheduled for July 20-21.

Racing season is now in full swing at the Marymoor Velodrome, drawing crowds of cycling enthusiasts to the park each Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evening.

The velodrome has hosted seasonal bicycle racing events at Marymoor since 1975. The facility's Friday Night Racing series is a summertime tradition for many Seattle-area fans.

Other regular events include the Kiddie Kilo on the first and third Friday of the month and ongoing classes for both adults and youth. Racing starts at 7 p.m. most nights.

Admission to the velodrome is free every night except Fridays, when spectator tickets are $5 for adults (under 16 is free). The velodrome's beer garden begins serving at 7 p.m. each Friday.

The Marymoor Grand Prix, set for July 20-21, will bring some of the country's top cyclists to Redmond as part of the 2012 USA Cycling National Track Calendar.

For more information about the velodrome, check out the Marymoor Velodrome Association's website. To see a photo gallery from the beginning of last year's season, .
