Mountain Report: Some Snow Expected This Weekend

Sunny skies should give way to precipitation at the passes by Saturday evening.

Our recent sunny weather means the mountain passes are in need of some fresh powder. Snow is expected by Saturday evening; unfortunately, accumulations will probably be minimal. Here's the latest on what's in the forecast.

Summit at Snoqualmie: Partly sunny skies on Friday will become cloudy by Saturday evening, with a 60 percent chance of snow forecast overnight on Saturday. Snow depth is 61 inches at the base of Summit West and 123 inches at the summit of Alpental. (Complete forecast here.)

Crystal is reporting it's at 150 percent above normal accumulation for this time of year, with close to 17 feet of fresh snow in December. The forecast shows a 60 percent chance of snow overnight Friday and 50 percent chance overnight on Saturday. Accumulations of 1-3 inches possible both nights.
