Wolverines take on Skyline after successful California trip

The Wolverines opened the season in impressive fashion, taking out the 13th-ranked team in the nation with a 31-21 victory over Oaks Christian of Mission Viejo, Calif. Bellevue trailed by 3 at halftime, but rode a big second half to come away with the win after Tyler Hasty intercepted his second pass late in the fourth quarter. The win moved Bellevue up to 15th in the nation in the USA Today Super 25 poll.

The schedule gets no easier for Bellevue in week two. The Wolverines will travel to Sammamish to take on 4A powerhouse Skyline in a non-conference game. Skyline is coming off a 62-27 season-opening win over Liberty in which junior quarterback Max Browne tossed four touchdown passes and Skyline outscored Liberty 27-0 in the third quarter. The two teams have combined for 13 state championships since 2000 and never disappoint when facing one another. Skyline won last year’s contest 28-21.
