Bellevue Beach Parks: Sun, Water and Sand in Minutes

Bellevue residents: no need to travel so far for some nice beach action!

This summer the incredible, sunny Seattle weather has been enjoyable indeed. Camping at Lake Chelan and Ocean Shores, visiting beaches in California and Florida, relaxing vacations to Hawaii and Cancun are amazing. But why spend all that money to enjoy a nice day at the beach when there are a handful of beaches close to home right in the Bellevue downtown and Medina area?

Minus Chism Beach Park, which is one of the bigger beach parks in Bellevue, there is limited space for parking. However, all of these family-friendly parks are located nearby one another, so if one seems too crowded, you can drive a few blocks right to the next one.

Especially with the well-kept grass at all of Bellevue’s parks, the wide open grassy areas and hills at each beach park is quite the treat for a nice afternoon picnic or a quick nap under the sun. All have restrooms, picnic areas, and seasonal lifeguards on duty from 12-7 p.m. all the way through Labor Day. All park hours are dusk to dawn.

Here is a list of five beach parks nearby to you, and some reasons why Bellevue and Medina residents love them so much. You can soak up the sun, feel the cool breeze of Lake Washington, and take a quick dip in the water just by driving a few minutes from home!

501 Evergreen Point Road

No dogs allowed, no playground

Lifeguard Alex Douthitt said, “It is very quaint, not crowded and it’s peaceful. It’s right next to a police station so it’s very safe. And so far there have been no incidents or accidents this year. There are families and a lot of young kids. I think that this park has the best view by far, and there is a sweet view of Mt. Rainier. Also there are the Movies at the Beach and a lot of people come.”

Craig Fischer, who works as the Information Systems Coordinator at the Medina City Hall stated, “It’s a nice beach park and it’s especially popular when the Blue Angels are here for the Seafair. There are lifeguards on duty for kids so parents can feel safe.”

Tanya Gitline, mother of Ellie,9, and Daniel, 6, said, “It’s pretty clean here. My kids like it.”

Ellie just stood by, smiling and nodding to everything her mother and brother stated. She clearly agreed to everything they were saying.
