Fun-Filled Medina Days Happening this Week

The annual Medina Days Festival is this week, Tuesday through Saturday, Aug. 7-11.

 

The annual Medina Days Festival is back for five days of fun from Aug. 7 to 11.

The festivities kick off with a concert at tomorrow at 6 p.m. Seattle big band Moxie will perform blues, jazz, rock and soul music. The concert will also feature food trucks serving southern, soulful food and dessert.

The annual softball games are scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, Aug. 8-9, at the ball field at , culminating in a softball tournament on Saturday Aug. 11.

On Wednesday, South Beach is playing against Overlake at 6:30 p.m.
Thursday, Medina Heights is playing against North Point at 6:30 p.m.

Teams will play for first place at the tournament on Saturday. The tournament starts at 1:30 p.m., and the championship game is at 3:30 p.m., also at Medina Elementary.

Neighborhoods will host block parties on Friday at 6:30 p.m. The neighborhoods hosting the parties are Medina Heights, North Point, Overlake, Medina South, Medina Circle and Medina North. For more information about the block parties, email news@medinadays.org.

The highlight of the festival is sure to be Saturday’s schedule of events. The events are free and anyone can attend. Practically an all-day party, people can start off their weekend by participating in the people and pet parade. Dress your furry companions in a Disney costume and head to at 9:30 a.m. The parade starts at 10 a.m.

After the parade, you can indulge the kid in you by heading to the carnival. There will be various activities available to entertain kids and parents, including a bounce house, slide, obstacle course and facepainting. The carnival starts at 10:30 a.m., and ends right before the softball tournament at 1 p.m.

The partying doesn’t slow down. Saturday night, people can head to from 6 p.m. to midnight to attend the beach party. The Jerk Station, Pai’s, and StreetTreats will provide the food, while steel drum band Bakra Bata and DJ Super Dave provide the music.

To cap off the five-day fun fest, the City of Medina has provided fireworks for a fireworks show that is set to go off as soon as it turns dark.

The organizers are also scheduling clean-up at 10 a.m. on Sunday at the beach and the park. They are encouraging people to come and help.
