Bellevue Youth Link's 21st Community Leadership Awards Event to be Held in May

April 25 is the nomination deadline to nominate youth for the Community Leadership Awards.

By Max Navas and Ryley Martin

The Community Leadership Awards, also known as the CLA, has been a lasting tradition of the Bellevue community for twenty-one years. The were created to congratulate members of the Bellevue community who have shown excellence in a variety of fields.

On May 17, Bellevue Youth Link will host the 21st CLA. This year, the members of the CLA committee will be doing something special to commemorate collective community experiences of youth in elementary through high school. In order to ensure that planning runs smoothly, the committee has split into two groups-an event coordination group and a gift group.  In past years, the award ceremony has been semi-formal. This year, the coordination group has expressed its intentions to make it formal and stage a Hollywood themed award ceremony including a red carpet and decorations. Meanwhile, the gift group has been focused on accumulating donations and sponsorships from businesses and local stores.

Overall, the preparation for this event has been coming along well. In the upcoming months, the committee will prepare to receive and vote on nominations for this year’s award winners.

Nomination forms will be available at Bellevue schools. They can also be downloaded from our Youth Link web site at www.youthlink.com.  The nomination deadline is Monday, April 25.
