Microsoft Reports 2011 Was Top Year for Employee Giving

The Redmond-based company said its employees raised more than $100 million with corporate matching in 2011.

 is reporting its employee giving campaign had its most-sucessful year yet in 2011, bringing in more than $100 million in donated and matched funds, according to a post on a company blog.

The employee giving program has brought in $946 million for community organizations around the world since its inception in 1983, Microsoft reported. In 2010, the campaign raised $96 million for charity.

According to the post, Microsoft employees engaged in several creative fundraising efforts last year, from "flocking" each other's offices with plastic flamingos to the annual 5K run on the Redmond campus.

Redmond Patch had the opportunity to take part in one of those efforts over the holidays when we. The company later matched the value of the gifts that were donated by the employees.
