Bellevue High School has been recognized by both U.S. News and World Report and Newsweek as one of "America's Best High Schools." Both lists are partially based on the number of college-level tests that students take; the school encourages students to take at least one Advanced Placement test during their high school career. Last year, Bellevue placed in the top 100 of both lists. The school also has a graduation rate of 96%, according to the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction, and the school reported that in 2009, about 95% of graduating seniors enrolled in a college, university or technical school. This year, the school is under renovation with plans for new classrooms and offices, a new performing arts center and major upgrades to the gymnasium. The project is scheduled for completion August 2012.
