We have to make people aware that our State is run by public employee Unions and we need court casesRead More like today which ruled that the California Teacher Tenure rules are unconstitutional so that we can change laws and vote people out of office who do not represent the interests of the public who pay the taxes.

Something that is interesting to note is that high school grads are going to four year universitiesRead More and studying subject that isn't marketable. While on the other hand you have people getting vocational training at vocational schools that essentially guarantees them a job out of school that will make them 'x' amount of money. So it isn't that college degrees are worthless, some are. It is also said that sometimes trade school is the right choice! This man was out of control and irresponsible. The school was absolutely right to fire him. HeRead More should not be responsible for children until he has received treatment and gotten control over his alcoholism. After that, it may or may not be appropriate to re-hire.

Alcoholism is a disease and he should be offered treatment as well as leave without pay while heRead More receives treatment. His choices in behavior are inappropriate, however it sounds like he is screaming for help.

Fired. If the teacher is an alcoholic he should indeed seek treatment and if/when he is in controlRead More and responsible the school system should look at the big picture of his service as a teacher to determine whether or not it would be prudent to rehire. Yes alcoholism is a disease and yes we all make mistakes, but those of us in charge of the lives of others should not get 3 strikes. The children's safety is the first priority.

I'll be more impressed when Sammamish and Interlake High Schools make this list. I expect highRead More achievement in the schools listed, they are in predominately high income neighborhoods. However, I will note I am impressed with Highland MS and Tillicum MS who serve a more diverse population and who struggle with a higher poverty rate than other schools. When we start closing the gaps for our poorest students, then we can really celebrate.
