The International School is a public junior high and high school that focuses on globalization: how nations affect…More commerce, politics, culture, the environment and technology across the world. The School's core curriculum includes international studies, German and French languages; math, science, humanities, art and physical education. The School was named to both "America's Best High School" lists by U.S. News and World Report and Newsweek magazines.</p> <p>The International School boasts a graduation rate of 100 percent, and nearly 100 percent of its tenth graders meet standards on the state science, reading and writing standardized tests. About 88 percent meet state standards on math.</p> <p>There are no prerequisites to get into this public school; there is an annual lottery for incoming sixth graders, and students come from every part of the Bellevue School District.</p>

Sammamish High School is one of five public high schools in Bellevue to be recognized in Newsweek's "America's…More Best High School" edition - the others were Interlake, International School, and Newport and Bellevue high schools. Sammamish offers 18 Advanced Placement classes, a visual and performing arts magnet program that includes digital video production, dance, Japanese ceramics, hot glass and music. The school also offers a bilingual transition program for English language learners and academic assistance.</p> <p>Nearly 90 percent of tenth graders passed the state standardized test for writing last year and 78 percent met reading standards.</p> <p> </p>

This year, the Bellevue School District will educate 17,700 students in kindergarten through 12th grade in Bellevue,…More Medina and Clyde Hill. The school district has several notable programs, including the programs for its high school students. The high schools also have good athletic programs, with student athletes and teams regularly being recognized for their achievements in sport.</p> <p>Most of the high schools have been featured in annual lists of top public high school published by Newsweek and U.S. News and World Report because of the number of students who participate in advanced, college-level courses. At many of the schools, the percentage of students who speak a language other than English at home is in the double digits. The district also has a k-12 Spanish immersion track, for English-speaking students who want to become fluent in Spanish and a middle-high school that focuses on global issues and high achievement, and one high school, Interlake High School, which offers an International Baccalaureate diploma.</p> <p>However, the district is also in a state of transition with other programs.
